Pete Taylor-trained Gary Cully stays unbeaten after battle with Craig Woodruff

Irish champion Gary Cully moved to 12-0 with a points win over Welsh fighter Craig Woodruff.

The Pete Taylor-trained Kildare puncher came back strongly from a fifth-round knock-down to follow up his Irish title win earlier this year with another triumph.

Cully was crowned Irish lightweight king after beating Joe Fitzpatrick with a first round knockout back in February.

Taylor fancies his top prospect to go a long way, telling IFL TV after that fight: “I can’t see anyone around Europe getting near Gary now.

"Just match him correctly, he is still young and I can see Gary fighting for a world title within 18 months. It would be a special lad to beat him.

“He is a great trainer as well he does them extra one percents that you need to do."

Taylor described his daughter as 'the greatest female boxer of all time' after her win over Delfine Persoon over Saturday night.

He posted on Instagram after the bout: "The undisputed, greatest female boxer of all time."

Pete coached his daughter to Olympic gold glory at the 2012 Games in London and was her long-time coach until 2015.
