Pete Taylor claims he doesn't fear for his life after being shot in 2018

Pete Taylor believes there is no threat to his life just over a year after he was shot in the chest and arm at Bray Boxing Club.

Taylor, dad of world champion boxer Katie, was shot in a deadly shooting in the boxing club on June 5 last year that saw one killed and another injured.

His friend Bobby Messett suffered a fatal bullet wound to the head, while gym member Ian Brennan also suffered injuries after being shot in the leg.

Dad-of-three Taylor was left with a sizeable wound on his arm - and still wears a protective brace over his upper left arm.

And when asked if he fears for his life in the wake of the incident, the 58-year-old claims there is no threat on his life.

“No. There is no threat on my life," Taylor told the Irish Sun.

Taylor added: "The recovery is going well. I am feeling good.”

Taylor has recovered well since the incident and has returned to coaching while also keeping a keen eye on his daughter's dizzying success.

Katie Taylor became the undisputed lightweight champion of the world in June, defeating Belgian Delfine Persoon at Madison Square Garden, but has faced criticism with some claiming that she did not deserve to have her hand raised at the end of the bout.

“It wasn’t a robbery if either one of them got it,” he said in the wake of the fight.

“I think if anyone runs Katie close everyone just looks at what the other person does. Katie won five out of the first six rounds and then obviously people remember the back end of the fight.”
