Pete Prisco puts Michael Thomas above Drew Brees in Top 100 list

The New Orleans Saints head into the 2019 season with one of the NFL’s most-loaded rosters, featuring high-level talent on both offense and defense. They received recognition for that from CBS Sports senior writer Pete Prisco, who included six Saints players on his list of the top 100 players of 2019.

New Orleans ties the Kansas City Chiefs with the third-most players on the list (six), trailing only the Dallas Cowboys (seven) and Los Angeles Chargers (eight). The top spot belongs to reigning Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald, who is one of five Los Angeles Rams on Pricos’s ranking.

What’s interesting is that the highest-ranked Saints player is not quarterback Drew Brees. That nod belongs to wide receiver Michael Thomas, who sits at the No. 14 spot for his efforts last year. Brees trails Thomas at No. 19, with Prisco noting that his volume numbers have begun to trail off as Brees ages.

After those two at the top, Saints fans will catch several familiar faces back-to-back at No. 22 (defensive end Cameron Jordan) and No. 23 (running back Alvin Kamara). The other Saints players on Prisco’s list can be found at No. 64 (right tackle Ryan Ramczyk) and No. 98 (linebacker Demario Davis). Left tackle Terron Armstead was an honorable mention.
