Pete Doherty has been hospitalised for the least rock 'n' roll of reasons - he got spiked by a hedgehog.
The Libertines front man, 40, was walking his two Siberian huskies when one of them picked up a hedgehog in its jaws.
As the musician, who previously dated Kate Moss , went to get the terrified hedgehog out of his dog's mouth he got one of its spines lodged in his finger.
Pete took himself off to hospital to have the spine removed and be treated for any possible infection.
The news was revealed today by BBC Radio 5 Live presenter Nihal Arthanayake on his Aftertnoon Edition show, which Doherty was meant to be appearing on.

Pete confirmed the news himself on Twitter , saying the bite had become infected.
He also shared a picture of himself wearing a bandage that stretched from his finger to his wrist.
Pete tweeted: "A picture of me in a hospital bed with an infected hedgehog spike wound thank you to the wonderful men and women who work within the NHS .
"What absolute angels and a million times they deserve our respect and thanks."
Speaking on his show, Nihal said that Hollywood star Kiefer Sutherland had been drafted in to replace Doherty, who was meant to come on air at 2pm.
He said: "We have Kiefer Sutherland coming up - he is replacing Pete Doherty.
"Pete Doherty tried to rescue a hedgehog from his dog's mouth...a spine from the hedgehog went into his hand and it is infected.

"He is now in hospital having the infected hedgehog spine removed from his finger.
"That is the reason Pete Doherty is not on this show today.
"We wish Pete Doherty well because whatever has happened is serious enough that he has not been able to make it on the show."
He recently made the news for an equally bizarre reason when he claimed he'd been told to have sex in exchange for bed and board , and was passed around by women "like a Primrose Hill dildo".
Pete says landlords would demand he have sex with them, or risk being kicked out on to the streets.
Referring to the posh part of north London where many stars live and socialise, the troubled singer said: "I don't want to be shared or passed around like a f**king tin can used as an ashtray at a party. I don't want to be a Primrose Hill dildo."
