Pete Carroll: Jadeveon Clowney has been ‘positively good’ for Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks tightened up their defensive line when they traded for pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney before the start of the regular season. The three-time Pro Bowler is known for his bruising style, but he offers much more off the field.

Coach Pete Carroll was asked how the defensive end was fitting in so far after just over a week with the team.

“I think it’s worth remarking that he’s been great about attitude-wise, and his mentality has been great,” Carroll said Wednesday. “He’s been upbeat and positive. He’s been very oriented to not trying to be in the limelight, front of it all. He’s been very humble about the way he’s taken to the approach. I couldn’t ask for more.”

Clowney played his first game in a Seahawks uniform on Sunday, logging two combined tackles and a sack. He also stepped up to take more snaps than originally planned despite few very days of practice. Carroll appreciates the extra effort.

“He’s been fun — fun to have around, and he’s worked hard and met in the meeting rooms extra,” Carroll continued. “He’s done everything. He was really happy about being here. You can tell just in his demeanor and all that. He’s been really great.

“I think it’s worth noting because it’s obvious that he’s been so positively good.”
