Pete Carroll talks about his belief in running the ball

Stop me if you have heard this one before: Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks love to run the football. While it can be a punchline to some, those who understand realize how critical the ability to establish the run is for Carroll’s system.

Recently, Carroll took time to explain in further depth how much he values running the ball for the Seahawks. Carroll didn’t just answer a simple question, he practically gave a dissertation on the subject.

Of course, what helped drive the question is the ongoing questions related to second round running back Zach Charbonnet. The pick was controversial to some since Seattle drafted Kenneth Walker III in the second round of the 2022 NFL draft. But Carroll, and general manager John Schneider, have repeatedly defended a pick.

However, they really have no need to do so. Charbonnet is a dynamic player and if things go according to plan, will help give the Seahawks offense a new edge. Having a backfield filled with multiple talented backs will hardly hinder this team in their quest for 2023.
