Pete Carroll pleased with the progress from DE Rasheem Green

The Seattle Seahawks overhauled nearly their entire defensive end group from last season.

They replaced Frank Clark and Dion Jordan with Jadeveon Clowney, Ziggy Ansah and rookie L.J. Collier, creating a formidable edge rush that – while it has been slow to develop – should cause plenty of problems for opposing quarterbacks as the season goes on.

However, the team has relied quite a bit on familiar faces so far this season, including Quinton Jefferson, Branden Jackson and Rasheem Green.

Green, a third round pick in 2018, looked like an afterthought heading into 2019 after a forgettable rookie campaign.

However, after recording a sack on Kyler Murray last week – who he chased down in the open field – Green is starting to show up on the radar.

“He’s doing really well,” coach Pete Carroll commented on Wednesday. “We’re really pleased that he’s playing tough and he’s been active in all the games to make something happen. You can see him every game, he does something. He’s a good football player. He’s just learning. He feels like a young guy to us still. He’s growing and expanding his game. We’re really pleased with the progress he’s making.”

Green was one of the youngest players in the 2018 NFL draft, and he was only active for 10 games last year, so it’s no surprise that he still seems young to Carroll and company.

However, his performance this year already shows impressive improvement from last season, and on a unit that features Clowney, Ansah, and Collier, Green has a chance to help create a truly unstoppable wrecking crew for opposing quarterbacks.
