Pete Carroll not wavering on Seahawks RB Chris Carson after fumbles

Seattle Seahawks starting running back Chris Carson is off to a shaky beginning to the 2019 season. With three lost fumbles on the year, Carson now leads all rushers in the league in that category.

Seattle’s No. 2 back, Rashaad Penny, was inactive Week 3 with a hamstring injury and after Carson’s most recent fumble Sunday, he remained in the game to assist C.J. Prosise with the bulk of the carries. Many wondered whether coach Pete Carroll would ultimately bench Carson for the immediate future.

“You’re going to see absolute support for our guy,” Carroll told reporters during his Wednesday press conference. “He’s a great football player and we love him and you’re going to see what that looks like. There’s been a lot of players over the years – through the ages – that have had issues at times. They’ve put it to rest, it’s behind them and all that and that is what is going to happen here.”

Through three games played, Carson has logged 45 carries for 159 yards and a touchdown. Also active in the passing game, he has posted  10 receptions for 59 yards and a score.

“You will not see me waver in my support for Chris and belief in the guy as a football player,” Carroll continued. “That’s been the conversation here and really the only message he needs to hear from me and he’s heard it from his teammates as well so we’re expecting him to tear it up.”

Carson should get his shot to do just that Sunday in Arizona against the Cardinals.
