Seattle Seahawks running back Chris Carson had himself an impressive outing last season, logging 247 carries for 1,151 yards and nine touchdowns in 2018.
For Carson, this year is shaping up to be even more impressive.
“Nobody is in better shape than Chris Carson,” coach Pete Carroll said after Tuesday’s minicamp practice. “He’s just an extremely well-fit guy. He’s just razor sharp strength-wise and explosion-wise. He’s always really impressive.”
Carson underwent a knee procedure over the offseason which has kept him out of the recent workouts but there is no expectation he won’t be ready by the start of the year.
Rashaad Penny, about to enter his second season, has been towing the load in Carson’s absence. With Penny fully healthy, he is expected to have an increased role, which he’s embraced over the last few weeks.
Carson, Penny and the rest of the Seahawks resume practice Wednesday and Thursday before breaking for the summer ahead of the start of training camp.
