Pete Carroll and his Seattle Seahawks are carefully preparing for their season opener in front of a national audience on Monday night when Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos come to town.
Much ado has been made about how Wilson will be received by his former teammates and the fans who supported him throughout his decade in Seattle.
Carroll is going to let it all play out and go from there.
“You are either competing, or you are not, I’m leaving it up to the 12s,” Carroll told reporters during his Thursday press conference. “It’s game time and we are going for it, so however they take it, I will follow their lead on that. I’m not going to be involved in that opportunity to react, so I don’t have to make that decision. We will see what happens.
“I’ll leave it up to the 12s, I think they will know exactly what to do.”
Tyler Lockett has already admitted he’ll be front and center to hug his old quarterback. As for the fans, just like coach Carroll, we’ll have to wait until Monday night to find out.
Kick-off between the Seahawks and Broncos is set for 5:15 p.m. PT at Lumen Field.
