Pete Carroll is confident Bobby Wagner will play Sunday

The Seattle Seahawks lost two defensive starters, Bobby Wagner and Quandre Diggs, to sprained ankles during last Sunday’s win over the Carolina Panthers.

The good news is that coach Pete Carroll feels confident that Wagner, who was just named to his sixth Pro Bowl, will be able to suit up on Sunday against the Cardinals.

“He would probably be probable/questionable at this time if we had to label it,” Carroll said on Wednesday. “We don’t know. He wanted me to make sure and not be optimistic. I said I can’t do that, you’re gonna play, I know you’re gonna play.”

Carroll smiled. “I hope that really confused you.”

Wagner reiterated Carroll’s probable/questionable designation in his own press conference on Wednesday.

“Physically and mentally I’m amazing,” Wagner said when asked how he feels. “I’m probable-slash-questionable, so we’ll see.”

While Carroll did indicate that Wagner won’t participate in Wednesday’s practice, that is probably a precautionary move more than anything.

The Seahawks will hope to have the majority of their defensive starters back in action when they face the Cardinals at home on Sunday, in their second to last home contest of the season.
