Pete Carroll: DK Metcalf had ‘fantastic recovery’ after knee surgery

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf returned to team practice on Monday after a knee injury that caused him to miss most of the preseason and required minor surgery.

The second-round rookie wide receiver has garnered a considerable amount of hype due to his physical attributes and could be an immediate contributor in Seattle’s passing game. He is not without his concerns, but Metcalf could provide Russell Wilson with a reliable target alongside Tyler Lockett. The team now has a plethora of young receivers on the roster, some of whom have flashed in the preseason, but Metcalf may have the most potential among them, especially if he can stay healthy.

Metcalf is still uncertain to play Week 1 against the Bengals but could increase his likelihood if he turns in a solid practice on Wednesday and does not re-aggravate his knee injury.

“He looked good today,” coach Pete Carroll said on Monday. “He had a fantastic recovery. If you can imagine, it was just a couple weeks ago. Fantastic recovery. He looked great out there and today, he was running. He practiced with us throughout the practice.”

The Seahawks have handled Metcalf’s injury situation on a week-to-week basis and will continue to do so. The 12s will have to wait with bated breath on the team’s final decision when Sunday rolls around.
