Pete Carroll and wide receiver D.K. Metcalf met shirtless at combine

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll has a story to tell about Ole Miss wide receiver D.K. Metcalf, who Seattle selected Friday night with the final pick in the second round of the 2019 NFL draft.

The two had met before, at the Crowne Plaza hotel during the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis.

“Well, I was surprised he came into our interview with his shirt off,” Carroll told the media after Metcalf’s selection. “We’re serious, he did, he came in with his shirt off. And it kind of pissed me off, so I took my shirt off too . . . not for long, though.”

Metcalf, well-known for his physique, was goaded by Seahawks’ southwest area scout Aaron Hineline into taking off his shirt before the meeting.

In the end, the trick must have worked, as Seattle traded up to snag the big-bodied receiver.

If the above video isn’t enough for you, check out Metcalf’s reaction when he eventually gets the call from the Seahawks on draft night.

Priceless.
