Pet Shop Boys write brand new music ahead of Leeds Playhouse production

Fans of the Pet Shop Boys are in for a treat this autumn, as Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe have created a whole host of new songs.

Unfortunately though, it's not for a new album. Instead, the pop duo have composed a range of songs which will provide the soundtrack to a production coming to the Leeds Playhouse .

Set for a 14-performance run in the Courtyard Theatre, My Beautiful Launderette is a modern adaptation of Hanif Kureishi’s iconic and Oscar-nominated screenplay.

Speaking about composing music for My Beautiful Laundrette, Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe said: "It’s wonderful to be part of the team bringing My Beautiful Laundrette from the screen to the stage and we’ve enjoyed writing mainly instrumental music to be presented within a British Asian context."

How to get tickets

There are 14 separate showings for the play - from Tuesday, October 15 through to Saturday, October 26.

Ticket prices start from £14. For more information, head to the Leeds Playhouse website or call 0113 213 7700.
