One woman has taken to social media to share her experience with a dog camera after a man reportedly managed to hack hers.
The pet owner described it as the "scariest moment" of her life when she heard a man's voice say 'hey beautiful' through her Furbo.
Angela Cuniberti had been using the camera to keep an eye on her pets when she wasn't at home and for the past five years has had no problem with it, until recently.
She said: "As many of you know, I have two dogs and when I’m away I like to check up on my dogs to see how they are doing throughout the day.
"I’ve never had any problems with Furbo till tonight. As I was getting out of the shower, I’m in my towel and walking the hallway between the dog room and my bedroom till I heard a man’s voice, “hey beautiful”.
"My heart was pounding in fear, my dogs were barking like crazy!! I’m looking around the room thinking someone was in my house till I looked over to the dog room, and saw a red light on."
Angela then went onto explain how the red light meant the camera was recording. She said as she walked closer to the device, she could hear the mysterious man begin to laugh.
'Shaking in fear', she immediately went to the outlet, unplugged it and called the police.
In response, the company said that they take security issues very seriously and it was likely that the man hacked into Angela's WIFI.
It seems as if Angela isn't the only pet owner who has the same concerns as her post has since gone viral with over 21,000 shares and nearly 10,000 comments.
One person commented: "This has happened to me before!!!"
While another added: "I definitely won’t be getting one or these now."
A third said: "Yeah they're not very protected. It takes all of 5 minutes to view the feed. Pretty messed up."
