Pet owners to spend £40 on their cats and dogs on Valentine's Day

As the season for love fast approaches, research reveals that pet owners are predicted to celebrate their lockdown heroes more than ever before this Valentine’s Day.

Pet owners polled in the research conducted by Pets at Home said they would spend an average of £40 on their beloved pets to show their gratitude to their furry companions, who have helped them through one of the most challenging years.

Pet parents are also predicted to treat their furry friends to more than just edible treats and toys, as the majority (90 per cent) of pet owners admitted that they give their pet more cuddles than their partner, whilst 71 per cent would prefer to share their bed with their pet and 82 per cent would treat their pet to a spa day at home.

Claire Gavin, Director of Creative Development & Innovation at Pets at Home, said: “Our pets are key members of our families and are such an important support in our lives. So, it’s totally natural for pet owners to want to show their appreciation of their pets’ unconditional love and the joy that brings this Valentine’s Day. Pets at Home’s broad selection of toys and treats offers something for every pet lover to choose to treat their pets during the season of love.”

Pet owners can browse Pets at Home’s wide range of Valentine’s toys, tasty treats and grooming products online.
