Pet owners encouraged to 'drag up their pooches' for Salford dog fashion show

Fans of dogs and drag queens are to have their WILDEST dreams come true with a new contest to find Manchester’s most fabulous pooch.

On Thursday (September 9), Seven Bro7thers Middlewood Locks Beerhouse in Salford will host a ‘RuPaws Dog Race’ competition where owners will be encouraged to drag up their dogs - in a safe manner, of course - for the chance to win some top prizes.

The event, organised by New Maker Yards, will include a fashion show where each competing dog will get the chance to sashay their way down the catwalk in front of a panel of esteemed judges.

There will also be performances from drag artists Mars Montana and Heiress Blackstone, who will also be taking on judging responsibilities.

Eoin Thomas, Community and Events Lead at Get Living’s New Makers Yard, commented: “Whether your dog is primed and ready for the pup-arazzi or a little ruff around the edges, we’re calling on all dog owners in the area to take part in this fabulous event!

The event will take place at Seven Bro7thers Middlewood Locks Beerhouse next Thursday (New Maker Yards)

“Like all Get Living neighbourhoods, New Maker Yards is completely pet-friendly, so we wanted to celebrate that and give our resident pooches a chance to shine as part of this month’s Drag events, as well as to keeping the Pride celebrations going.”

The first prize winner will receive a £40 voucher for Seven Bro7hers, second place will be awarded a treat box courtesy of Manchester dog deli Betty & Butch while a ‘fetching’ rainbow lead will be handed out to third place.

Tickets cost just £3, with all proceeds from ticket sales going to LGBTQ+ mental health support charity Mind Out.

The event takes place at the Seven Bro7thers Middlewood Locks Beerhouse on Thursday 9 September from 7pm.

Those looking to head to the event should book their place here and email events@getliving.com if they would like their pooch to participate.
