Pest control called to Anniesland Morrisons after rats spotted in car park

Pest controllers have been called in after a member of the public spotted rats scurrying around in the car park of a Glasgow supermarket.

The unpleasant find was made near the entrance of Morrison's supermarket in the Anniesland area of the city - with the member of the public telling Glasgow Live they spotted about four or five young rats coming out of a hole in the ground.

It is believed the hole had been dug for a cable box and may have disturbed the rodents - who were "coming out of the hole and going back in again when anyone got near" according to the eyewitness.

Morrison's have confirmed that they have been made aware of the rat sighting, and are working with Rentokil and other businesses on the retail park to deal with it.

A spokeswoman for the supermarket chain said: "We've been made aware of a rat sighting at the edge of our carpark.

"We're working with Rentokil and other businesses on the retail park to deal with this."

Glasgow City Council has also been contacted for comment.
