Pervert who was on the run for six years jailed for sexual assault

A man who ran away to Spain for six years after sexually assaulting a woman has been jailed.

Azhar Younas, 31, did not appear for his sentencing in 2013 after he committed the assault on a 21-year-old woman in Northampton in 2012.

He was sentenced to four years in prison in his absence at Northampton Crown Court.

It was later revealed he had fled to Barcelona and was working in a supermarket.

The brazen perv posted selfies of himself soaking up the ray at the seaside on Facebook over the years.

Officers finally caught up with him after he applied to leave to remain on July 9.

They discovered he was the subject of a European arrest warrant and was deported to the UK.

Appearing at Northampton Crown Court on Friday 2nd August, Younas, previously of Earl Street, Northampton, was formally sentenced.

His Honour Judge Mayo also sentenced him to an extra four weeks for his "deliberate attempt to evade justice".

Defending Younas, Ian Vesey said: "This was a simple case of a gentleman who panicked.

"Once located, he co-operated."
