Pervert snared by vigilante group for sending explicit photo to '13-year-old girl'

A pervert snared by a vigilante group moaned he had been "set up", a court heard.

Frank Cook believed he had been chatting to a 13-year-old girl called "Katie" via the Waplog app between March and May last year.

However, he was instead chatting to a member of the Keeping Kids Safe group.

Pervert who travelled 200 miles to meet teen girl at Greggs snared by vigilante group

The 66-year-old claimed he was only 28 - and also sent an explicit photo.

The group went on to confront the OAP at his then home in Glasgow's Govanhill before police were alerted.

Cook could now face jail after he admitted contacting what he believed was a 13-year-old girl and sending an indecent image online.

Prosecutor Lauren McRobert told Glasgow Sheriff Court Cook had lied about his age to "Katie".

Domestic abuser disabled smoke alarms and tried to set toaster on fire in brutal attack on partner

She added: "Cook discussed sex and he described it as normal. But he later asked her to delete the conversation.”

Cook was in contact with "Katie" for around six weeks.

He was eventually met by members of Keeping Kids Safe, who live-streamed the confrontation online.

Cook, now of Craigend, was held by police.

He then whined: “The only thing I can say is that I was set up.”

Sheriff Joseph Platt deferred sentencing until next month and put Cook on the sex offenders register.
