A pervert pensioner was caught with a sick haul of more than 1000 child sex abuse images and a sick video.
John Aitken was snared with a “large number” of electronic devices in his flat in Edinburgh’s Old Town which held his sordid collection.
The 69-year-old pleaded guilty to a charge which stretched over a near 14-year period when he appeared at the city’s sheriff court on Friday.
Fiscal depute Jennifer McLaren said police received information that a device in Aitken’s home connected online had access to indecent images of children.
Ms McLaren said a search warrant was granted and executed by officers last May 24.
She said Aitken was the sole occupant at the address. He admitted ownership of the various devices found there to police, she said, and said he was responsible for the images found on them.
The court was told nine of the images found were at Category A - or the worst level - with two at Category C and 1026 at Category C. There was also a video at Category C level.
Aitken pled guilty to taking or permitting to be taken or making indecent photos or pseudo-photos of children between December 6 2006 and March 24 last year.
Sheriff Donald Corke deferred sentence for reports until July.
