A pervert pensioner regularly stripped naked to stand in his window when a school bus dropped off girls outside his home.

Former soldier Thomas Beattie, 71, also showed one of the girls a photograph of his penis on his mobile phone. Beattie denied the allegations but was convicted after a trial, during which the district judge was shown a photograph on the girl’s phone corroborating her evidence.

Although the charge of exposure of which he was found guilty only related to one day District Judge Wendy Lloyd told him: “It was well known that you would be naked at the window at the time the school bus arrived.”

Shannen Carey, prosecuting, told Liverpool Magistrates’ Court that in early March last year the mum of a 15-year-old girl reported to police that her daughter told her she had seen Beattie exposing himself from a front window on a number of occasions over the space of a year.

Her daughter said how on March 12 she got off the bus home from school at the stop opposite waste land by his home with her friend.

Ms Carey said: “She walked past Beattie’s home and saw him stood in his front window with a phone to his ear. As she walked past he turned the telephone away towards her and on the telephone screen she saw a clear photograph of a penis. Read the full story here.

Boy, 9, 'terrified' of going to school after near miss on busy road

A Liverpool schoolboy has been left terrified of going to school after a near miss on his morning journey.

Jacob Sheridan, nine, joined hundreds of learners gearing up to head back into the classroom at Gilmour Junior School, Garston, after their six week break last month. However, the year five pupil was the subject of a near miss as he crossed the road to meet a friend and has been left suffering from flashbacks and increased anxiety.

Jacob, accompanied by dad Hugh, walked out from their car sandwiched between a number of parked vehicles and was just inches away from a car coming along Whitehedge Road. The boy was left shaking by the experience, suffering from shortness of breath while meeting with the school’s headteacher with his father.

Jacob admitted he loves being in school but he doesn't like "going to school". Dad Hugh said more needs to be done in the surrounding roads enveloping the school to protect young people.

He said: “The busiest road is Whitehedge road where there are no signs indicating that a school exists, there are no speed limit signs close to the school, there are no yellow zig zag lines or any no stopping signs. My wife made a complaint last year and I know many parents are fearful of a child getting injured, or worse. " Read more here.
