Pervert caught hiding in women's toilets after completing first day of sex offender programme

A persistent pervert has been jailed after he was caught looking into a women's toilet on his way home from a sexual offence treatment programme.

Haben Mihretab was convicted of voyeurism in 2019, which resulted in a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) prohibiting him from entering any female public toilets.

On March 7 of this year he travelled into Preston city centre to attend his first day of a special sex offence education session.

After completing day one of the course, Mihretab went to the Fishergate Shopping Centre, hid in the women's toilets and started peering over the cubicle. He was later spotted by a female victim.

The 22-year-old, who in 2017 was caught spying on women in a pub and train station in Wigan, was then traced by police on CCTV and arrested in Preston Station.

He was once again hauled before a judge, this time at Preston Crown Court, and handed a 22-month sentence.

It was found that Mihretab, of Heatley Close, Blackburn, had also changed his permanent address without informing the police.

PC Tom Dawson, from the Lancashire Police East Risk and Threat Team, said: “Mihretab is a very concerning individual and I am pleased that he is now back behind bars.

"We will continue to work hard to safeguard the public from persistent offenders like this.

“If anyone has been the victim of a sexual offence, I would urge them to come forward and report it to us on 101.

“We take all reports seriously and ensure that victims are treated sensitively and professionally at all times."

Mihretab, of Heatley Close, Blackburn pleaded guilty to pleaded guilty to voyeurism, breaching his SHPO and breaching his notification requirement.
