Perthshire Rugby Club has welcomed highly-respected coach Craig Ormiston to their team as plans ramp up for next season.
The 2019/20 campaign was declared null and void due to the coronavirus outbreak and attention now turns to preparing for the sport making a return.
Shire will again be competing in the National League Division 3 when action makes a comeback and head coach Alan Clark was thrilled to acquire the services of Ormiston.
Ormiston, who represented the first XV for several years, brings a wealth of experience and recently led Blairgowrie RFC to a successful spell of form.
“I am excited about returning to coach at Perthshire,” Ormiston said.
“Alan, Mark [Coupar] and I have spoken at length about the season ahead and I am just keen to get stuck in and get on with the work.”
Clark has always strived to offer the best coaching experience to players at the North Inch.
And he said: “We already have the most experienced and highly qualified senior coaching team in Tayside.
“But we are constantly looking to improve and give ourselves that crucial point of difference.
“Craig’s approach and coaching mindset will certainly give us that in the coming season.
“Our current group of Mark Coupar, Dave Lewis and Greig Mason are excited to see what he will bring.
“For Perthshire it’s about making sure we offer our players the very best experience we can. The coaching set-up is just one of those elements.
“We also give players access to leisure facilities across Perth and Kinross, including a state-of-the-art strength and conditioning facility at Bell’s Sports Centre with dedicated coaching support.
“Add this to the social side and it’s not difficult to see why the club is so highly rated within Scottish Rugby.”
