Perthshire curler Eve Muirhead books place in final at Winter Olympics

Perthshire curler Eve Muirhead will go for gold after advancing to the final at the Winter Olympics.

Muirhead, Vicky Wright, Jen Dodds and Hailey Duff had the nation on the edge of their seats in Friday’s semi-final with Sweden.

An extra-end was required following an incredible game which had finished at 11-11.

But it was Muirhead and Team GB, with the hammer, who were able to hold their nerve and advance to the showdown in Beijing.

They are now guaranteed at least silver but all eyes are on gold, with Japan the opposition very early on Sunday morning (1.05am).

Muirhead, whose alternate at the event is former Perth Academy student Mili Smith from Guildtown, previously won an Olympic bronze medal at Sochi 2014.
