A Perthshire community champion has been nominated for a Local Hero award at the Scottish Parliament.
Phil Seymour was put forward for the honour by Murdo Fraser MSP.
The former chair of Blairgowrie and Rattray Community Council, Phil is in line for a gong to recognise his contribution as chair of the Blairgowrie and Rattray Coronavirus Co-ordination Group.
Phil said he was honoured to receive recognition for the role he played in leading the support group.
“It was fantastic to see how groups and individuals in the community came together and worked tirelessly over many months to support those adversely impacted by the pandemic,” he commented.
Every MSP was asked to nominate one of their constituents who have made an extraordinary contribution to the lives of other people living in Scotland locally or nationally during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mr Fraser, who represents the Mid Scotland and Fife region, said: “By all accounts, Phil worked tirelessly in his efforts in the Blairgowrie and Rattray Coronavirus Co-ordination Group over days, weeks and months, and is now, with the help of other members, involved in the recovery following us coming out of the last lockdown. He is a true community champion.”
Phil will join Mr Fraser at parliament’s opening ceremony, an event which will take place in early October to formally mark the new session of the Scottish Parliament.
