Perth truck driver killed by falling tree

Emergency crews work to free the driver of a truck that was crushed by a falling tree.

A truck driver is dead after his vehicle was crushed by a tree north of Perth.

Police say the truck may have hit the tree about 10:20am on Wanneroo Road, near the intersection of Bernard Road North, in Carabooda.

The tree fell across Wanneroo Road, blocking both lanes and part of the verge.

The truck was extensively damaged, with its cab crushed by the impact, killing the driver, who police believe is in his 40s.

Main Roads has closed Wanneroo Road between Yanchep Beach Road and Pipidinny Road.

The road block is expected to be in place for several hours.

Emergency services, including the Department of Fire and Emergency Services and St John Ambulance, also attended the scene.

Major Crash officers are investigating.
