A Perth travel operator is holding a grand reopening this weekend.
The team at Hay’s Travel on the High Street is holding the reopening on Saturday, December 7 with prosecco, cake, food and a raffle.
After it was announced Thomas Cook had gone bust, the team in Perth were faced with losing their jobs.
However, after Hay’s Travel bought over the shop, the team was reinstated and are back working hard to arrange people’s holidays.
Jackie Sutherland, manager at Hay’s Travel, said: “We are planning to do a reopening on December 7 because we are in the former Thomas Cook shop but we now have the proper signs up to say we are Hay’s Travel.
“The whole team is back and we are celebrating with prosecco and cake, Pete Chan from China China is doing a buffet for us and there will be a raffle to raise money for a local charity.
“Hay’s is hugely involved in the local community, so we want the money from the raffle to stay in Perth.”
The public were asked to nominate and vote for a local charity on social media, and chose PKAVS.
Jackie continued: “We want to bring our old customers back in and share our good news over a glass of prosecco.
“We have probably got in excess of 30 raffle prizes, all donated from local businesses.
“They have all been really kind even during these hard times, the support has been amazing.”
She added: “It is absolutely amazing to come back as Hay’s Travel.
“We have done a huge amount of training and it is a really exciting time for all the staff here as well as the customers, who have been coming in to wish us well.
“We will also be showing off our upstairs lounge which is quite private for those who don’t want to sit in the window, maybe if they are booking a honeymoon or a special event.”
The celebrations will run from 11am onwards on Saturday, December 7.
