Perth sex shop building fire leaves man dead but authorities not treating it as suspicious

A man has died following a fire that broke out inside an adult shop building in Perth's central business district.

Firefighters attended a blaze at the Club X building on Barrack Street about 1:00pm yesterday.

The man was inside the three-storey building at the time and died at the scene.

It has not been revealed how he died, but his death is not being treated as suspicious.

The cause of the fire has also been deemed as not deliberate.

Traffic was brought to a standstill in the CBD as 17 firefighting appliances tried to extinguish the blaze.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.

It is expected a Department of Fire and Emergency Services review into the fire will also be presented to the coroner but it will only form part of that report.
