Perth sex offender jailed for three months after setting Rottweiler on two teenage girls

A Perth sex offender has been jailed for three months for setting his Rottweiler dog on two teenage schoolgirls in a city street.

But 33-year-old Martin Reeves will serve the sentence at the same time as a 74-week jail term he was handed down for twice having sex with a vulnerable 15-year-old schoolgirl at his flat in South William Street.

He was found guilty after trial of assaulting the teenagers - aged 15 and 14 - by repeatedly inciting his dog to “menace, attack, injure and pursue” them in Perth ’s Balhousie Street on June 16, 2020.

Sheriff Neil Bowie, who heard the trial, told Reeves: “Whilst this wasn’t the worst offence of its kind, it caused upset to those two girls who ran across the road without looking.”

The accused had also “given instructions” to the animal to chase and catch up with them.

Because Reeves had received a “substantial sentence” the previous week for the incidents involving the other teenager, he ordered that the three months be served concurrently with that jail term.
