Perth's Adventure Circus delight with high wire tricks at PKAVS Ukraine fundraiser

A scintillating show packed full of terrific twists and turns has helped raise hundreds of pounds to support Ukrainian refugees coming to Perth and Kinross.

Adventure Circus Perth hosted a cabaret show featuring aerial acrobatics, juggling and hula hooping at the Riverside Church in North Muirton earlier this month.

The mission was to raise as much money as possible for the PKAVS Minority Communities Hub and an impressive total of £766.26 was achieved.

This was thanks to the talents of the fabulous performers, the support of wonderful volunteers and the generosity of the audience.

Founder of Adventure Circus Perth, Gemma Simpson, was delighted with how everything went.

“We always try to make shows low-cost or pay-what-you-can,” Gemma told the PA.

“The tickets were on a pay-what-you-can basis so people could decide what to put towards the cause.

“This show raised more money than we’ve ever raised before. Everyone was so generous.

“I think many people have a feeling of helplessness and not knowing what you can do to offer support.”

Gemma added: “This was the first show we’ve done that had a cause behind it.

Holding perfect balance, Adventure Circus Perth was a great draw for local people who wanted to help PKAVS (Shirley Smith)

“Normally the cause is ourselves - to raise money for the circus.

“But with everything that is going on, it is hard to think what you can actually do that would make a difference.

“Our talent is circus and using it for good to raise a bit of money or awareness.

“That is how we can collectively contribute to helping people.

“We don’t have anyone in the group from Ukraine, but everybody knows a friend of a friend.

“This just seemed like the right thing to do.”

The performance certainly dazzled audience members and Adventure Circus is now in planning for a big community event later in the year.

“We had a lot of people who couldn’t come to the show who still donated, which was brilliant,” Gemma noted.

“We had a few people performing for the first time and a great audience of about 100.

“The church was a great venue, the show went really well and everyone had a wonderful time.”
