Perth pupils inspired after meeting Sir David Attenborough

A group of pupils at Perth Grammar School were left beaming when they met Sir David Attenborough this week.

The students attended the Hunter Foundation dinner at the National Museum of Scotland on Tuesday, where the TV presenter was speaking about climate change.

Perth Grammar was one of three schools across Scotland to attend the event, after entering a climate challenge competition by creating a film to launch a new system created by children to embed sustainability into the school curriculum.

The system would bring new waste management processes, bio-fueled public transport, make multi-use products more popular in Scottish schools by swapping cling film for reusable tubs and encourage pupils to have reusable water bottles.

A statement from the group said: “To listen to our hero speaking about climate change, something that matters so much to us and our generation, was truly inspirational.

“His ability to speak so calmly and matter-of-factly, showed his appreciation and love for our world. We will never forget this once in a lifetime experience, and will strive to use our voices to drive positive changes for a better future- with his words leading our way.”
