Perth pub shuts as precaution after staff member's friend tests positive for coronavirus

A Perth city centre pub has closed its doors after the friend of a staff member tested positive for the coronavirus.

The Tavern on South Street took the action at around 5.45pm on Tuesday night .

A statement from the pub said the staff member had worked last Friday.

Cause of reed bed blaze remains a mystery to Scottish Fire and Rescue Service

Bosses are now working with NHS Track and Trace.

The statement said: “We have immediately closed the Tavern as a friend of one of our waiting staff has tested positive for COVID.

“The staff member did work last Friday so as a precaution all staff working that day are self isolating and/or being tested.

“We are working with NHS Track and Trace and if you were in on Friday you may well be contacted.

“All procedures within the bar have been found to be correct and aligned with guidance issued.

“This incident has originated from outwith the premises nevertheless it’s best to be safe. The whole building is being fully sanitised ready for reopening.

“We will update further in due course.”
