Perth prisoner accused of attacking inmate with a pool cue and ball

A man made a brief appearance in private at Perth Sheriff Court on Thursday afternoon last week, charged with attacking an inmate at the city’s jail with a pool cue and ball.

Forty-four-year-old Robert Leggat, described as a prisoner at Perth, made no plea and his case was continued for further inquiries.

Represented by local lawyer Pauline Cullerton, he was remanded in custody by Sheriff Neil Bowie for further inquiries.

It is alleged that on October 9, 2020, at Perth Prison, he assaulted Dean King by punching him to the face, throwing and striking him on the head with a pool ball and striking him on the head with a pool cue, to his injury.

He is said to have been on bail from Glasgow Sheriff Court on February 2, 2019, at the time.
