Flooding hits Perth as the city posts its wettest June in six years

Perth has posted its wettest June in six years and has reached its June monthly rainfall average for the first time since 2012.

The city received more than 27 millimetres of rain overnight and today, as a cold front moved through.

The soaking pushed the rainfall total for the month past the June average of 124.4mm.

It's the wettest start to winter since June 2012, when the metropolitan area received 140.8mm of rain.

Baldivis in Perth's south was hit by flooding as drains struggled to clear the heavy rainfalls.

Thursday is expected to be partly cloudy with a maximum temperature of 16 degrees Celsius.

Similar temperatures are expected for Friday and Saturday, which are likely to be sunny.

But brace for a chill on Saturday with the overnight minimum forecast to dip as low as 3C.

The bureau said that was due to a high-pressure ridge which will move in swiftly after the cold front, bringing sunny days, cold nights and light winds.

Rolling into July on Sunday, the new month will start mostly sunny with a maximum of 19C.
