Perth pensioner disgusted at dog owner dumping poo in her garden

A Perth pensioner has been left disgusted because someone is dumping dog poo into her garden.

Sandra Oliver first noticed the bags filled with excrement under her 15-foot hedge in May, but reckons it has been going on longer.

And despite clearing up around 30 bags back then, the issue has continued.

Eighty-year-old Sandra has lived at her Newmiln Road home for over two years.

And she admits to being at a loss as to why the culprit is doing it.

She told the Perthshire Advertiser : “I have no idea why this is happening. Someone is obviously too lazy to find a bin.

“Quite frankly, if you can’t behave in a proper manner, you shouldn’t have a dog.”

Sandra, who suffers from health problems including a bad back, says the contents of the bags has also left her dog ill.

“Sometimes the bags are tied up, but other times they aren’t. My dog has been really sick about three times with this.

“The person who helps walk my dog helped to clear them up recently and there were 24 bags of faeces on Sunday evening and on Monday there were two fresh bags and then this morning (Wednesday), there was another bag.

“It’s absolutely disgusting.

“I have a large hedge which needs to be trimmed. When it was done at the end of May there was 30 bags.

“At the time I gave it the benefit of the doubt as the people before me had a dog, but it had been done sneakily.

“Some of them were even hanging on the branches. Some of them I cannot even reach.

“Before I noticed it I had a friend here playing ball with my dog. The ball went under the hedge and he said it stunk of dog poo, but because it’s black bags, they are hard to notice.”

Sandra, who says other neighbours have had a similar issue, has reported the matter to Caledonian Housing as she believes the person responsible may live in properties owned by the housing association nearby.

“I’ve spoken to them numerous times,” she said. “I said someone should come out to clear this mess and I want a camera put up to catch the culprit - but I was told that was an invasion of privacy.”

A spokesperson for Caledonia said: “We are sorry to hear about this complaint and take issues of this sort very seriously indeed.

“Caledonia Housing Association has been in contact with Sandra Oliver and has written to all of its tenants on Newhouse Road regarding the issue. If it transpires that one of our tenants is indeed responsible we will take appropriate action. “
