Police have arrested a 36-year-old man in connection with the death of ‘beloved grandad’ Ian Menzies.
The 55-year-old’s body was discovered in a flat on Scott Street in Perth at around 8.50pm on Monday night after concerns were raised for his welfare.
A major police investigation was launched into the dad’s murder with forensic officers seen scouring the flat for evidence.
Police Scotland have now confirmed that a man has been arrested in London.
A force spokesperson said: “Officers have arrested a 36-year-old man in the London area, following the death of 55-year-old Ian Menzies.
“His body was discovered after emergency services were called to a property on Scott Street, Perth, around 8.50pm on Monday, 7 June, 2021, following a report of a concern for a person.”
Detective Inspector Gary Winter, Police Scotland's Major Investigation Team, added: “There will be a continued police presence in Perth in the coming days and I would like to thank local residents for your patience in the meantime.

A tribute released by Ian's family yesterday said: "Ian was the best dad, grandad and brother in the world. He was caring, respected and loved dearly by friends and family. Words cannot express how sorely he will be missed.
"As you can understand, this is a traumatic time for us as a family. Although we appreciate your messages of support we would like to respectfully request our privacy at this highly sensitive time.”
