Perth motorists face two weeks of traffic disruption as busy Rannoch Road closes for resurfacing works

Motorists in Perth are set to face traffic disruption over the next two weeks as the busy Rannoch Road closes for upgrade works.

Resurfacing works began on the route yesterday (January 10) with a completion date set for January 24 at the latest.

In the meantime Stagecoach bus services 1, 2, and 70 will be unable to access the bottom end of Struan Road, Newhouse Road, and the top part of Rannoch Road.

And so they will need to divert from Struan Road via Campsie Road and rejoin Rannoch Road near the number shops in that area.

The diversion is in place in both directions.

A Perth and Kinross council spokesperson said: “Due to resurfacing works on Rannoch Road, Perth it will be necessary to divert a number of Stagecoach services in this area.

“The resurfacing works will commence on Monday, January 10, 2022 and will be in place for up to two weeks.

“During these works Stagecoach services 1, 2, and 70 will be unable to serve the bottom end of Struan Road, Newhouse Road, and the top part of Rannoch Road.

“All services will be required to divert from Struan Road via Campsie Road and rejoin Rannoch Road at Rannoch Road shops.

“This diversion will be in place in both directions.

“We apologise for any inconvenience that these works may cause.”

Meanwhile local drivers are being warned that resurfacing work planned for the Fair City’s Dundee Road next week will also cause disruption.

The roadworks get under way on Tuesday, January 18 and will last for up to two weeks.

A PKC statement said: “There will be evening and weekend working on this scheme to try and have the works completed earlier than scheduled.

“As a result of these works there will undoubtedly be delays to [bus] services that use this route and we have also been advised that the bus stops at/opposite Manse Road will also require to be closed for the duration of these works. This will affect services X7, 16/16A, and 51.

“Passengers wishing to access these services are asked to make their way to the bus stop located at Barnhill on the Dundee Road at/opposite Fairmount Road.”
