Perth Mint's July gold sales rise, silver sales nearly triple

(Reuters) - The Perth Mint's gold product sales in July rose 10.6% from the previous month, the refiner said on Monday.

Sales of gold coins and minted bars in July climbed to 21,518 ounces from 19,449 ounces in June, the mint said in a blog post.

Meanwhile, silver sales in July leaped 186.5% to 987,040 ounces. This would be its highest monthly sales since Oct. 2018.

In July, benchmark spot gold prices <XAU=> inched up 0.3% on expectations of an interest rate cut by the U.S. Federal Reserve and other major central banks. The bullion gained nearly 8% in June.

The Perth Mint refines more than 90% of newly mined gold in Australia, the world's second-largest gold producer after China.
