Perth man alarms ex-partner with threat to throw himself off Kinnoull Hill

A Perth man alarmed his ex-partner by calling her and saying he was considering hurling himself off Kinnoull Hill because she refused to go back out with him.

Perth Sheriff Court heard Glenn Ewen Law uttered the chilling threat while telephoning a former girlfriend on May 19 this year.

The court was told the 36-year-old made the call after telling his ex on a previous occasion he was “totally obsessed” with her and felt unable to “move on” following the breakdown of their relationship three years ago.

Depute fiscal Nicole Wilson said Law also attended the woman’s home address uninvited several times over a period of 35 days before making the call, sometimes letting himself in and other times just loitering about outside.

Law, whose address was given as a property in Strathtay Road on court papers, admitted a charge of engaging in a course of conduct which caused his former partner fear or alarm.

A solicitor acting for Law said in mitigation his client believed anti-depressants he had been prescribed had been partly to blame for his behaviour.

Sheriff William Wood said Law appeared to have made efforts to address his “issues” since he was reported for his offending and deferred sentencing him until February next year for background reports to be prepared.
