Perth Leisure Pool shuts temporarily after roof damaged by high winds

Perth Leisure Pool has closed temporarily after strong winds sweeping through the city damaged part of the roof.

Live Active Leisure (LAL), which runs the facility, confirmed this morning that “some damage” had been caused by the weather conditions throughout the night.

Two swimming lessons and a number of gym sessions set to take place throughout the day were cancelled as a result.

The walkway towards the leisure centre entrance was taped off and it was not disclosed when the facility would reopen to the public.

On Friday morning, a spokesperson for LAL said: “Unfortunately, Perth Leisure Pool has had to close temporarily due to some damage caused by last night’s strong wind.

“We’ll be assessing this as soon as it’s safe to do so and we’ll post an update on our Facebook page and website as soon as we know when the venue can reopen.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

The prevailing high winds also blew down a tree on the A94 near Perth Airport on Friday morning.

A warning was issue by a PKC spokesperson who post in social media: “Strong winds across much of the area may bring down tree limbs or branches on to the road, so please be aware and drive with caution.

“We are aware of a tree down on the A94 near Perth Airport, but the road remains passable.”
