Perth lawyers in pledge to write wills for free to support nine charities

Lawyers working for Kippen Campbell in Perth have signed up to a charity will writing campaign for the seventh year running to help nine of the UK’s best-loved charities bounce back from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Staff have raised £6614 for the nine charities since they started supporting Will Aid every November, by waiving fees for writing wills and asking clients to make donations instead. The firm is aiming to make this year their best fundraiser yet.

Partner Jacqueline Dow remarked: “The scheme provides people with a perfect opportunity to get a professionally written will, therefore ensuring their wishes are protected when they die.

“Additionally, it allows us to support nine important causes, whose finances have been impacted greatly as a result of the coronavirus.”

Last year, solicitors across the UK raised more than £655,000 for the nine partner charities which are ActionAid, Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save the Children, Sightsavers, SCIAF (Scotland) and Trocaire (Northern Ireland).

Peter de Vena Franks, campaign director for Will Aid, said: “We are very grateful that Kippen Campbell LLP has again joined this year’s campaign.”

The suggested voluntary donation for a basic Will Aid will is £100 for a single will and £180 for a pair of mirror wills.
