Murder charge laid after woman found dead, man with 'significant' injuries

A man has been charged with murdering a 64-year-old woman and attempting to kill a 65-year-old man at a home in the northern Perth suburb of Hocking.

Myles Taylor, 34, was arrested at the house on Lotherton Way late yesterday afternoon after police were called to the property just before 4:00pm.

It is understood officers found the woman dead at the scene, while the older man was taken to hospital suffering from "significant" injuries.

A WA Police spokeswoman said the three people were "known to each other".

Mr Taylor was remanded in custody after a brief appearance in Northbridge Magistrates Court this morning, charged with murder and attempted unlawful killing.

He will appear in Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Street remains cordoned off

Lotherton Way was cordoned off at both ends yesterday as Homicide Squad detectives launched their investigation.

Forensic officers were seen entering the house wearing protective covering on their shoes and gloves to preserve the scene.

A police tent was set up outside.

Several neighbours said they saw a man being taken away in handcuffs.

The street remained cordoned off just after Rosedale Vista this morning as police continued to gather evidence.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
