Perth girl Lily Douglas's delight at "no spread" cancer news

Inspirational Perth youngster Lily Douglas has been told her cancer has not spread.

Mum Jane posted an emotional video on social media earlier this week by surprising Lily and her grandmother Mary with the happy news.

The video showed Lily’s gran opening a giant card for her 70th birthday.

On the inside of the card, it revealed scans had shown Lily’s cancer had not spread.

The family were celebrating Mary’s birthday with a meal at The Dormy Clubhouse at the Gleneagles resort at the time.

However, the news was a surprise to Lily as well, who stood open-mouthed when she read what was inside the card, before giving her gran a hug.

The card read: “For your birthday I wanted to give you the best gift ever.

“My scans are stable, my cancer is not growing!

“Love from Lily.”

She had gone for the important scans at the end of last month.

Lily was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma and after undergoing intensive treatment, was given the all clear.

However, last year the family were given the devastating news the cancer had returned to her lungs.

Despite this, Lily has continued to compete in numerous dance competitions and last month started secondary school at St John’s Academy.

Lily is now expecting to strut her stuff on the catwalk at London Fashion Week next weekend.
