Perth Fire Station to be new COVID-19 testing site

Perth Fire Station is to be one of the new bases for NHS Tayside’s COVID-19 testing units from next month.

From 10-16 and 24-30 August the Old High Street station will be the location of the units and will operate seven days a week.

Anyone with coronavirus symptoms, however mild, can get a free swab test that takes less than a minute.

These mobile testing units are being moved to Perth from their previous locations at Michelin Athletic Club in Dundee and Arbroath High School.

The units will operate from Forfar in the two other weeks of August.

It comes as the drive-through coronavirus regional testing facility moved from Perth College on Crieff Road to Dudhope Castle in Dundee on Wednesday, July 29.

The site is being operated by the UK Government’s Department of Health and Social Care in partnership with Mitie.

It will provide self-administered tests for the community and anyone who gets a test at the site can expect to receive their results the next day.

Tests should be booked or ordered as soon as symptoms begin at nhs.uk/coronavirus or by calling 0300 303 2713.
