Perth city centre street closed due to "dangerous" dangling pipe

Part of a busy city centre street has been sealed off due to a pipe dangling from a building.

The entrance to St John’s Shopping Centre on South Street has been shut off after the pipe was spotted dangling from a block of flats this morning (Tuesday, January 14).

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has been called to the incident, which they have described as “dangerous”.

They are using an elevated platform to try and remove the dislodged pipe.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 10.50am on Tuesday (January 14) to reports of a dangerous structure hanging from a building on South Street, Perth.

“Two fire appliances have been mobilised to the scene, where crews are removing an iron pipe and working to make the area safe.

“There are no reported casualties.”
