Perth charity PKAVS changes its services due to the coronavirus outbreak

PKAVS is to suspend all of its services tomorrow due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The charity will be closing its shopmobility, day care services and charity shop today (Wednesday, March 18), with all other face-to-face services closing by 4pm tomorrow (Thursday, March 19).

PKAVS has said these arrangements will be in place for the “foreseeable future” and added the decision has been made following current government advice.

Paul Graham, chief executive of PKAVS, said: “During this time of uncertainty, it is crucial that we continue to support our clients as much as possible, through alternative methods which protect the health of our staff, volunteers, and their families.

“The decision to close some of our services was difficult but, fundamentally, it is what we need to do to protect those most at risk of infection during this outbreak.”

PKAVS will now be adjusting the way it delivers its services to make sure clients are still supported, including deliveries to vulnerable people, telephone support to combat social isolation and advice lines.

The charity can still be contacted on 01738 567076 during this close down.
