Perth basketball player charged with murder after woman's body found in burning house

Police are continuing their investigations at the Doubleview property.

A Perth basketball player who is facing a murder charge is to undergo a mental health assessment.

Chudier Pal, 29, was charged after the body of Stephanie Lee Robinson was found in a home in Doubleview on Saturday morning.

The 30-year-old's body was discovered after emergency services were called to a fire at the Ravenscar Street property.

Mr Pal appeared in the Magistrates Court in Northbridge on Sunday.

The court was told the investigating officer reported him as "rambling" and displaying signs of psychosis.

Mr Pal told the officer he had a "galaxy inside his head and a neutron star for a father".

He was taken to hospital for treatment for a minor injury, and a doctor there also suspected Mr Pal was showing signs of psychosis.

He was remanded in custody and scheduled to have a health assessment on Monday.

Mr Pal has previously trained with the Perth Wildcats and competed in the State Basketball League.

Police have said he and the victim were known to each other.
