Perth and Kinross placed in level two of coronavirus restrictions despite fears it may have been grouped with Dundee

Perth and Kinross has been spared being grouped with Dundee in the second highest coronavirus level.

There had been fears this week that the region could be lumped in with the neighbouring city due to its high infection rate.

But First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has now confirmed the region will be placed in level two, much to the relief of many.

Perth and Kinross currently has an infection rate of 74 per 100,000 people, compared with nearly 200 in Dundee.

But that is a rise from 45 for the previous seven days.

Only seven mainland authorities have a lower rate than the local area.
