Perth and Kinross Council (PKC) has offered its help to neighbouring Fife Council following the fire at Woodmill High School in Dunfermline.
Over 80 firefighters worked through the night on Sunday to put out the fire at the Dunfermline secondary school after the alarm was raised at teatime.
Woodmill High School has 1400 pupils and has been closed for the remainder of the week as arrangements are put in place.
Due to recent housebuilding in Dunfermline, most of the secondary schools in the area are full or near capacity.
It emerged this week that neighbouring councils have offered to help, including PKC.
PKC’s brand new school Bertha Park is currently operating well under capacity with only first and second year pupils using the building at present.
The council did not rule out the possibility of this being used, when asked, but simply said “no specific offer of support has been made.”
A spokesperson said: “Perth and Kinross Council contacted Fife Council’s executive director for education and children’s services on Monday, August 26 to offer any support it can at what is an exceptionally difficult and challenging time for the young people, families and staff affected by these very sad circumstances.
“As the matter is at an early stage, no specific offer of support has been made.
“However, we will be remaining in contact with our neighbouring council regarding how they intend to deliver alternative education provision for the pupils concerned, and if we can provide appropriate support and assistance, we will do so.”
